System of antiblocking of brakes (ABS) - the general information, a problem diagnostics and codes of malfunctions

The general information

When the vehicle is equipped by brake system of usual type, sharp squeezing of a pedal of a foot brake leads to blocking of wheels. Coupling of a protector with a road covering is thus broken, and the car can go юзом, losing controllability. The system of antiblocking of brakes (ABS) prevents premature blocking of wheels, continuously operating speed of their rotation during braking at the expense of modulations of pressure of a hydraulic liquid in each of brake mechanisms.

The electronic block of management (ECU) ABS traces speed of rotation of each of car wheels, being guided on the signals arriving from wheel gauges. When at emergency braking any of wheels it starts to be blocked prematurely, ECU gives out a command on activation of the electromagnetic valve placed in the hydraulic modulator which, working, opens a corresponding site of a brake contour, letting out from it a part of a hydraulic liquid in the tank and, accordingly, reducing working pressure. As soon as speeds of rotation of wheels are equalised, the valve is closed again also pressure continues to rise. The cycle lasts shares of second on each of wheels and repeats until braking will not be finished. The system design allows to correct pressure in hydraulic contours of each of four wheels. Actually the scheme of functioning ABS is much more difficult, than it can seem, therefore composers of the present Management do not recommend to owners of cars to make attempt of independent performance of repair of system. In case of occurrence of malfunctions it will be most reasonable to address to experts of car-care centre.

Problem diagnostics and codes of malfunctions

If built in in the panel of devices of the car control lamp ABS lights up and continues to burn during movement, first of all make sure, that the lay brake is completely released, and the brake system functions regularly. If all in norm, hence, was refusal ABS. Do not forget, that operation of control lamp ABS can be caused decrease in level of a brake liquid in tank GTTS, - the control lamp of brake system will simultaneously work also. a) Check up a condition of brake supports and wheel cylinders;
b) Check up components of a hydraulic path on presence of signs of development of leaks;

d) Check up corresponding safety locks (the Onboard electric equipment see the Head).

The management module (ECU) ABS traces any infringements of functioning of components of system. In case of refusal revealing on the panel of devices the corresponding control lamp lights up, the system of antiblocking of brakes is disconnected. In memory of the module of management the refusal code thus registers.

At ignition inclusion control lamp ABS gives out two (models FWD) or four (models AWD) flashes within 1 second, then should go out.

If during performance of independent checks of any infringements to reveal it is not possible, drive away the car on a car repair shop. Full diagnostics ABS demands application of the special input reader of type DRB-II or MUT-III, connected to located at the left under the panel of devices to diagnostic socket DLC.
