Typical design of the drum-type brake mechanism
The typical design of the drum-type brake mechanism is presented on an illustration.
Two boots equipped by frictional overlays are established on motionlessly fixed brake board. Boots are concluded in the drum rotating together with wheel assemblage. Boots are fixed on the landing places by means of springs that provides with it certain degree of moving with clip possibility to a working surface of a drum. The clip of boots to a drum is carried out at the expense of the effort developed by pistons of the wheel cylinder at squeezing by the driver of a pedal of a foot brake. Nestling a surface of frictional overlays to drum walls, boots interfere with its rotation therefore process of braking of a vehicle is carried out. At release of pressure in a hydraulic path boots, at the expense of the effort developed by coupling springs, come back in a starting position, wringing out pistons and releasing a drum.
Modern drum-type brake mechanisms are equipped by the self-regulators providing indemnification of deterioration of frictional overlays. Regulators work automatically at braking moving a car backing.
