Check of a condition and replacement of components of system of ignition

* Composers of the present Management recommend to make check of condition ВВ of electroconducting a little bit more often - each 80 000 km of run.

Check of an external condition


1. Check of condition ВВ of wires should be made each time at replacement of spark plugs.
2. Check begins with external survey of isolation of wires at the working engine. Tyre out the car in a dark, well ventilated premise, start the engine and make sure of absence искрообразования on wires. Искрообразование is a sign of breakdown of isolation. Try not to touch moving components in an impellent compartment. Make necessary marks on replacement of defective wires, then allow to the engine to cool down and start checks of a condition of a cover and бегунка the ignition distributor.
3. Check of candle wires is made serially in order to avoid infringement of an order of their connection at assemblage. Usually on isolation of firm wires there are corresponding marks. In case of absence that, put it independently by means of an adhesive tape and a marker.
4. Disconnect ВВ a wire from a spark plug (is better take advantage of the special tool). At all do not pull for a wire, only for its tip.

On models of last years of release for the purpose of providing of access to spark plugs it is necessary to remove the top cover from a cover of a head of cylinders.

5. Examine internal walls of a tip. Corrosion is usually shown in the form of fragile коркообразного a touch of white colour. In case of strong oxidation replace a wire.
6. Pull a tip back on a shaft of the candle, make sure of density of its planting. In case of need again remove a tip and in appropriate way turn in plugs in a rubber cover.
7. Pure rags wipe a wire on all its length, completely having removed with a surface of isolation dirt and greasing traces. Examine wire isolation on presence of cracks, traces прогара and other damages. Try not to bend a wire under sharp corners in order to avoid infringement of integrity of veins of a conductor in isolation.
8. Disconnect a wire from the distributor, - again pull only for a tip, instead of for a wire. Check up a tip on presence of signs of corrosion, estimate density of its planting on the plug. Again connect a wire to the distributor.
9. Operating in a similar manner, serially check up a condition of all remained candle wires. Make sure of reliability of their connection to candles and distributor plugs.
10. In need of performance of replacement ВВ of wires (see more low) track that replaceable wires corresponded on the standard size to parametres of the engine of your car. In firm shops of automobile accessories and company Mitsubishi services-centres always it is possible to get complete sets ВВ of the wires cut on length and equipped with tips ready to the use. Remove and replace wires serially in order to avoid infringement of an order of ignition.

Measurement of resistive resistance


1. Check of resistive resistance ВВ of electroconducting is made by means of an ohmmeter. Excessive specific resistance of candle wires is the reason of occurrence of admissions of ignition and refusals at start of the engine in the conditions of the raised atmospheric humidity.
2. Measurement is made for each wire separately. The ohmmeter is connected between trailer plugs of a wire. The description of procedure of removal and installation ВВ of wires/covers of the distributor of ignition is resulted more low.

3. Having taken readings, compare the received results to requirements of Specifications. The rating value makes 1333 2000 Ohm/dm. Wires with the raised specific resistive resistance are subject to replacement.

Removal and installation


1. Remove a sleeve of an air inlet of an air cleaner.
2. At a corresponding complete set of the car remove the central cover from a cover of a head of cylinders.
3. Mark ВВ electroconducting by means of an adhesive tape, try to remember a route of a lining of each of wires.
4. Since the longest, serially disconnect ВВ wires from candles and from bobbin modules/covers of the distributor of ignition.
5. At installation to the place of old electroconducting watch closely observance of an order of connection of wires (see the marks put before removal).
6. New wires should correspond in accuracy removed from the car on a standard size.
7. Grease protective covers of tips ВВ of wires with dielectric greasing and plant tips on plugs of modules of ignition/cover of the distributor. Track reliability of fixing of tips.
8. Having laid each of candle wires according to the scheme made in the course of dismantle, connect them to corresponding spark plugs (begin with a lining of the longest wire and operate on decreasing).
9. In summary establish into place an air inlet sleeve.

Cover and бегунок the distributor


1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Mark and disconnect from a cover of distributor VV electroconducting (see above).
3. Turn out fixing screws/release clamps and remove a cover from the distributor case.
4. Mark adjusting position бегунка and remove it from a distributor shaft.
5. Good practice is replacement of a cover and бегунка the ignition distributor without dependence from their condition each time at installation new ВВ wires. At use of old components carefully smooth out contact surfaces of their plugs and measure resistance between wires and a cover (see above). In case of need replace a cover and-or wires.
6. If replacement of a cover and бегунка the distributor is not included into the plan of spent works, carefully wash out the removed components a soap solution and dry them (whenever possible with application of compressed air). Make sure, that after rubbing of components by rags on them does not remain подлипших and the got stuck fibres and pile particles.

7. Attentively examine a distributor cover on presence of cracks, having chopped off facings of plugs, traces прогара, coal paths and other defects; estimate a condition of the central button of contact electrodes/plugs.

8. Estimate a condition of a working tip and a spring бегунка.

9. Installation of components is made in an order, the return to an order of their dismantle. At installation of a new cover of the distributor transfer on it with old ВВ wires, connecting them it is strict in a certain order in order to avoid infringement of an order of ignition, - try not to disconnect all wires simultaneously, transfer them serially.

The ignition order is specified in Specifications in the beginning of the present Chapter. On the majority of models the protective ledge (facing) of the plug of connection of a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder on a cover of the distributor in appropriate way is marked.
