Details of installation of servomotor IAC

In order to avoid failure ЕСМ at performance described below checks use only the digital voltmeter with high (from above 10 МОм) an impedance!


The car equipped with system OBD-II should be driven away on a car repair shop for reading of codes of malfunctions from application of the special scanner. There are some checks (the causes of failures connected with revealing at engine start) which the owner of a vehicle can execute independently, in all other cases the car should be driven away in car-care centre.


Oxygen gauges

The general information

Gauges O2, or l-probes trace percentage of oxygen in the fulfilled gases of the engine. Present at system of release of molecule О2, entering reaction with a sensitive element of the gauge, force last to develop alarm pressure. The amplitude of a signal, depending on concentration of oxygen can make from 0 to 1 In, and the signal more low 0.4 In testifies to high maintenance О2, - the impoverished air-fuel mix, from above 0.6 In, - about low (the enriched mix). ЕСМ continuously traces a signal arriving from the oxygen gauge, and on the basis of arriving data makes corresponding updating of structure air-fuel, trying to support it on an optimum level (14.7 parts of air on 1 part of fuel, - стехиометрическое the number) to which there corresponds the indication of the oxygen gauge 0.4 ÷ 0.6 V.Korrektirovka of mix structure is made at the expense of management of duration of time of opening of injectors of injection. The oxygen gauge starts to develop alarm pressure only after will be прогрет to the normal working temperature making approximately 320°С. On the models equipped with system of onboard self-diagnostics OBD-II it is usually provided two oxygen gauges, one of which is established ahead каталитического the converter, another - behind, that allows the management module to support efficiency of functioning of the catalyst on a maximum level. For acceleration an exit of gauges in operating conditions they can be equipped with electric heating elements.

Check

1. Do not forget to check serviceability of a condition of all oxygen gauges a part of system.

Access to oxygen gauges is usually complicated. Be careful, - remember, that components of system of release can remain hot during even long time after a stop of the engine and pressing to their surface of plaits of electroconducting can lead to destruction of their isolation. Try to make, whenever possible, check of components of system with application of the special scanner, allowing to reveal changes of alarm pressure within thousand shares of volt.

2. Disconnect from the gauge electroconducting.
3. Measure resistance between plugs PWR and GRD the gauge. If the result of measurement differs from the rating value stipulated by standard requirements (6 Ohm at temperature 20°С), hence the heating element of the gauge is faulty also assemblage is subject to replacement.
4. Restore initial connection of electroconducting and start the engine. Connect the digital voltmeter between plugs HO2S and SIG RTN (GND) a gauge socket, - if fluctuations of indications of a measuring instrument occur insufficiently quickly, or fall outside the limits a range of a nominal range (0.01 ÷ 1.0), replace the gauge.


Removal and installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Поддомкратьте the car also establish it on props.

3. Mark wires and disconnect the oxygen gauge from the main plait of electroconducting of the engine.

4. By means of a special key turn out the gauge and remove it from the car.

5. Estimate a condition covering a working element of the oxygen gauge of adjournment.

6. Before installation it is necessary to grease the gauge with getting oil.
7. Screw the gauge on the regular place and tighten it with demanded effort (37 ÷ 45 H•м).
8. Restore initial connection of electroconducting.
9. Lower the car on the earth and connect a negative wire to the battery.


The servomotor of system of stabilisation of turns of idling (IAC)

The general information

System IAC servo-driver is carried out on the step-by-step electromotor with a food on a direct current. Built in assemblage of the servomotor the gauge continuously traces position of a drive and gives out the corresponding information on PCM, exercising the general administration of functioning of system of stabilisation of turns of idling.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Press to assemblage of servo-driver IAC a stethoscope or the big screw-driver. Ask to include the assistant ignition, not starting the engine, - приводной the electromotor should publish some the distinct clicks confirming serviceability of a condition of a chain on a site between PCM and the servo-driver of system. Further pass to condition check actually the electromotor.

2. Disconnect from assemblage of the servomotor electroconducting and an ohmmeter in pairs probe plugs 1-2 and 2-3 contact sockets from a drive (not a plait!). If the result of measurement falls outside the limits an admissible range (28 ÷ 33 Ohm), replace electromotor IAC. At positive results of the first testing probe plugs 5-4 and 5-6, - the result should lay within the same range. At negative results of check replace the servomotor.


Removal and installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Details of installation of servomotor IAC are shown on an illustration.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

3. Remove an inlet sleeve of an air cleaner.
4. Disconnect the hoses brought to servo-driver IAC.
5. Turn out fixing bolts and remove assemblage of servo-driver IAC from the throttle case.
6. Installation is made upside-down, - do not forget to replace a sealing lining.


The gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid of the engine (ECT)

The general information

As it is clear from its name, gauge ECT serves for measurement of temperature of a cooling liquid of the engine. On a design the gauge represents термистор which resistance changes in inverse proportion to temperature change. The gauge gives out the removed information on PCM which uses obtained data at updatings of a corner of an advancing of ignition, intensity of stream EGR, structure of an air-fuel mix and so forth To the gauge is brought two wires on which on it basic pressure in 5 V.Parametry of a target signal of the gauge moves are defined by change of resistance of a working element depending on temperature.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Merge from the engine cooling liquid, having lowered its level below level of position of gauge ECT established on the inlet pipeline.

2. Disconnect from the gauge electroconducting and remove it from the engine.

3. Lower a working element of the gauge in a vessel with a warmed up liquid where the thermometer also should be lowered.

4. Connect to the gauge an ohmmeter and start to warm up water, tracing character of change of indications of a measuring instrument according to thermometer indications. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications (5.1 ÷ 6.5 clod at 0°С; 2.1 ÷ 2.7 clod at 20°С and 0.26 ÷ 0.36 clod at 80°С. The faulty gauge is subject to replacement.

Alternatively check of gauge ECT can be made by means of the diagnostic scanner.


Removal and installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Merge from the engine cooling liquid, having lowered its level below level of position of gauge ECT established on the inlet pipeline.

3. Disconnect from the gauge electroconducting.

4. Turn out the gauge and remove it from the engine.

5. Before installation it is necessary to grease a carving part of the gauge with suitable hermetic.

6. Screw the gauge on the regular place and tighten it with demanded effort (30 H•м).
7. Fill in in cooling system necessary quantity of a mix of a demanded grade (see the Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance).
8. Connect to gauge ECT electroconducting (track reliability of fixing of a socket).
9. Connect a negative wire to the battery.

The gauge of temperature of soaked up air (IAT)

The general information

Gauge IAT is a part of the gauge of measurement of weight of air (MAF) and serves for the control over temperature of air soaked up in the engine. The gauge, as well as gauge ECT considered above, represents термистор with negative temperature factor. Information PCM arriving from gauge IAT uses at updatings of installations of a corner of an advancing of ignition and structure of an air-fuel mix. Besides, given information in a combination with the data arriving from the gauge of pressure is used at calculation by the module of management of weight of the engine of air submitted to cylinders. The working signal is developed by the gauge by transformation basic 5-votovogo pressure according to change of resistance of a thermosensitive element of assemblage.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Gauge IAT is a part of assemblage of the gauge of measurement of weight of air (MAF).

2. Disconnect from gauge MAF electroconducting.
3. Measure resistance between plugs 4 and 6 (all models except 2.0 l DOHC)/6 and 8 (models 2.0 of l DOHC) a contact socket of the gauge.

Alternatively check of gauge IAT can be made by means of the diagnostic scanner.


4. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications (5.3 ÷ 6.7 clod at temperature 0°С; 2.3 ÷ 3.0 clod at temperature 20°С and 0.30 ÷ 0.42 clod at temperature 80°С).

The heating of the gauge can be carried out by means of the household hair dryer.

5. The faulty gauge is subject to replacement.


Removal and installation

Gauge IAT is a part of gauge MAF, the description of procedures of removal and which installation is resulted more low in the present Section.

The gauge of measurement of weight of air (MAF)

The general information

Gauge MAF serves for measurement of weight of an air stream soaked up in the engine. The information given out by the gauge is used PCM at definition of duration of time of opening of injectors. As a working element (“the hot wire”) in gauge MAF is used the thin platinum wire which reeled up on a ceramic pig and has been filled in with glass. The thread heats up to the value exceeding an ambient temperature on 200°С, and the working element is blown by a stream of air soaked up in the engine. The working signal defining temperature of soaked up air, acts in film from a "cold" element of gauge MAF (gauge IAT).

Basic pressure moves on gauge MAF with PCM, grounding also is organised through the management module. The gauge returns to the module a signal which amplitude is proportional to force of the current proceeding through “a hot wire” a working element and providing maintenance of temperature of the last at the set level. Strengthening обдува a working element leads to decrease in resistive resistance of "a hot wire” and for temperature keeping at former level the big force of a current is required. The amplitude of information impulses of a signal is directly proportional to force of a wire proceeding through a working element and at serviceable functioning of the gauge should increase with increase in the expense of air soaked up in the engine.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Having connected a multimeter to an underside of plugs of a contact socket, measure pressure of gauge MAF.
2. At the included ignition (the engine do not start) pressure size between plugs BATT and GND should make not less than 10.5 V.Esli the given condition it is not carried out, it is necessary to check up a condition of electroconducting of contours of giving of a food and gauge grounding.
3. Now start the engine and measure pressure size between plugs GND and SIG. If the result of measurement makes less than 4.5 In, check up a condition of electroconducting of contours of a food and grounding.
4. Not suppressing the engine, measure size of alarm pressure between plugs GND and SIG RTN, - if the result of measurement falls outside the limits a range 0.34 ÷ 1.96 In, replace the gauge.

Removal and installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Try not to subject removed gauge MAF to shock, temperature and chemical influences!

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!


2. Release clamps of fastening of a casing of an air cleaner.

3. Ослабьте a collar of fastening of a final air line on the throttle case.

4. Remove a branch pipe сапуна and disconnect electroconducting from gauge MAF.

5. Remove a final air line, then disconnect it from an air cleaner cover.

6. Give four fixing nuts and remove assemblage of gauge MAF from an air cleaner cover.

7. Installation is made upside-down.

The gauge of absolute pressure in the inlet pipeline (MAP)

The general information

The information arriving from gauge MAP is basic configuration in managerial process of an air-fuel mix. Using data about temperature and relative pressure (data about atmospheric pressure arrive from gauge BARO) in the inlet pipeline, PCM calculates the current expense of air soaked up in the engine and on the basis of the analysis of the received information defines the quantity of combustion of fuel injected into chambers is necessary.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. By means of a multimeter check up pressure on gauge MAP socket (щупы the gauge are entered into contact plugs from a socket underside).
2. Include ignition (the engine do not start) and make sure, that pressure between plugs SIG and GND makes not less than 48 In, otherwise check up a condition of electroconducting of contours of giving of a food and grounding, make necessary regenerative repair.
3. Start the engine and measure pressure between plugs GND and SIG RTN a socket. If the result of measurement falls outside the limits an admissible range (0.8 ÷ 2.4), replace the gauge.
4. At positive results of last check repeat measurement, sharply having squeezed out thus a gas pedal, - the indication should rise to 2.4 In and be stabilised at the given level. The faulty gauge is subject to replacement.

Removal and installation

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

2. Disconnect electroconducting from gauge MAP.

3. Turn out bolts of fastening of the gauge and remove it from the inlet pipeline.

4. Installation is made upside-down.

The gauge of position throttle заслонки (TPS)

The general information

In a basis of a design of the gauge of position throttle заслонки (TPS) the potentiometer, i.e. the resistor which resistance changes as a result of mechanical moving of mobile components is put in pawn. The gauge is mechanically connected to an axis throttle заслонки and develops the alarm pressure proportional to current size of resistance of a potentiometer, defined by position заслонки in the throttle case. The signal from the gauge stands out on PCM which on the basis of the analysis of arriving data defines position and a movement direction заслонки and in appropriate way corrects structure of an air-fuel mix, installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition and intensity подмешивания the fulfilled gases (EGR).

The management module (PCM) organises giving on TPS basic pressure (5) and grounding. The amplitude of a working signal of the gauge is defined by position of a toddler connected with an axis throttle заслонки a potentiometer and on single turns should make about 0.9 Century

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Adjustment TPS is not represented possible, in case of infringement of serviceability of functioning the gauge should be replaced.


1. Start and by means of the digital voltmeter measure pressure between plugs SIG RTN and GND from the back party of a contact socket of the gauge, - at single turns of the indication should lay within a range 0.2 ÷ 1.4 Century

2. Slowly translate throttle заслонку in completely open position, - pressure should increase slowly also to 4.8 Century

3. If the signal is absent, check up serviceability of giving on the gauge of basic pressure (5.0) and grounding potential (less than 0.3), in case of need make corresponding regenerative repair of electroconducting/replace PCM. If a food and grounding in norm, replace the gauge.

Alternatively check TPS can be made by means of the diagnostic input reader сканерного type.



Removal and installation

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

2. Disconnect electroconducting from the gauge of position throttle заслонки.

3. Turn out two fixing screws and dismantle TPS from an axis throttle заслонки.

4. Installation is made upside-down, - track correctness of input of the gauge in gearing with an axis заслонки.


The gauge of position of a camshaft (CMP)

The general information

On the basis of the analysis of information PCM arriving from gauge CMP defines position of the piston of the first cylinder of the engine and uses the obtained data at calculation of phases газораспределения. At admissions of signals CMP the management module carries out fuel injection in cylinders according to results of last successful calculation that excludes probability spontaneous остановов the engine in case of gauge CMP exit out of operation (efficiency of return of the power unit can decrease appreciably thus).

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

The gauge develops the alternating current signal which frequency is proportional to frequency of rotation of a camshaft of the engine. Gauge check can be made only with application of the expensive diagnostic equipment in view of what it will be reasonable to charge its performance to experts of car-care centre of company Mitsubishi. Monitoring of functioning of gauge CMP can be made by means of the diagnostic input reader сканерного type, - follow instructions of manufacturers of the device.


Removal and installation

L models 1.6, 2.0 l DOHC and 1.8 l since 1997 вып.

L models 1.5, 2.4 l, 3.0 l SOHC, 3.5 l and 1.8 l 1993 ÷ 1996 of вып.

Models 3.0 of l DOHC

1. Details of installation of gauge CMP on models 3.0 of l DOHC are shown on an illustration.

2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

4. Release fixing bolts and remove gauge CMP from the car.

The gauge of position/corner of turn of a cranked shaft (CKP)

The general information

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

On pulse signals PCM arriving from gauge CKP defines exact position of the piston of each of engine cylinders. On the basis of results of the analysis of the received information the management module defines the optimum moments of injection and fuel ignition.


Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

As well as in case of CMP it is necessary to charge performance of check of gauge CKP to experts of car-care centre. It is alternatively possible to take advantage of the diagnostic scanner.


Removal and installation

Models 2.0 of l SOHC and 1.5 l 1990 ÷ 1996 of вып.
